Hurdy Gurdy is another nifty device that keeps a rear wheel from slipping forward in the dropout under pedal load. It's designed for the Cross-Check's semi-horizontal front-loading dropouts, and will also work on many other similar dropouts. Hurdy Gurdy is investment cast of stainless steel for durability and good looks, and shares many of Tuggnut's design features. Its two axle holes allow for a wide variety of fore/aft wheel positions, it will work with standard QRs, bolted axles, and nutted axles up to 10mm.

Breaking the Mold with a 29er Bike As the first "plus" bike to hit the market, Krampus changed the way many people approach trail riding. It's shown people the light of how high volume, large diameter tires can vastly improve the ride experience. It's also done a bang-up job dispelling the myth that big tires make you slow. Krampus is kind of like the opposite of a mullet: long in the front and short in the rear. With a long toptube and compact chainstays, it takes trail-shredding abilities to the next level. A mullet may be business in the front, party in the back but Krampus makes partying its business. "Lean back, hang on, and ride that wild horse." -Thor - Modern trail standards: dropper post compatibility, 44mm headtube, Gnot-Boost rear spacing, thru-axles, suspension corrected fork - Compatibility with most mountain bike standards makes it the perfect parts bin bike (no rim brakes allowed though) - Clearance for 29" x 3" tires

The Surly Jethro Tule rocks. It's made from tough, polished stainless steel and sports dual-purpose functionality. One end is the 15mm offset box end wrench you need to take your wheels off. While the other end provides stellar leverage and a bottle opener! That's two of the tools you need, in your pocket, all the time.

Surly Racks are well-thought-out, durable, expedition-worthy racks that work with most panniers. While their racks aren't limited solely to heavy duty touring, that is what they were designed for. When you're out on the road, the best option is to never ever have anything ever go wrong ever. Right? That's never a guarantee though; so having something that you can repair if it does break can be pretty clutch. Thus, the main bodies of Surly's front and rear racks are made from tubular CroMoly steel with stainless hardware. This means you can probably find someone out there that can torch it back into one piece in the rare instance things go south. The Front Rack is height adjustable and provides either a low or high pannier mounting position, which can be handy depending on terrain. When the ground gets rough, keep your gear high and dry. When the path is smooth and easy, you can load things low and keep everything balanced and stable, with the platform above the wheel providing yet more space for more stuff. It's worth mentioning they've redesigned the Front Rack hardware to be simpler to attach and more compatible with things like disc calipers and fenders. Surly also made attachment plates specifically for their Uni-Crown forks for yet more fork compatibility. This simpler design has fewer moving parts and costs less to manufacture; ergo, costs less for you to purchase. Surly's front rack WILL work with disc brakes on the Troll, Ogre, and Disc Trucker frames. It may take a bit of work to get clearance around the front caliper since the many different calipers out there are many different shapes. The new attachment plates will limit any DIY ingenuity you might need, but if you need to throw a washer or three behind the lower left bolt where the plate attaches to the fork dropout, that's not a big deal. As part of Surly's ongoing effort to make this planet last a little longer, they recently started shipping their racks with a small, reusable Surly Tool Bag that houses the rack struts and hardware. This switch helps eliminate the use of some polybags, thereby minimizing excess waste. Plus, you get a free tool bag out of the deal. Surly Front Rack will haul up to 32kg (70 lb) of well-secured, well-balanced gear over roadways and maintained off-road trails. Front Rack specifications: - Tubing diameter: 10mm - Platform dimensions: 230 x 170mm - Weight: 1382g

These two black plates fit nice and snug between the chainstays of the newly redesigned Disc Trucker (2020 and newer), allowing you to bolt on the kickstand of your choice without gravely injuring your frame. Our other silver-colored Kickstand Plates remain the best option for legacy Trucker frames, so please don’t use the old plates with the new bike or the new plates with the old bikes. Normally we don’t like to tell people how to use our stuff, but in this case we have to take… a stand. - Allows use of any kickstand while protecting chainstays from damage - Includes two plates to protect the top and bottom of the chainstays - Compatible with 2020 and newer Disc Trucker frames

Surly made these handy plates for use with either the Long Haul or Disc Trucker frames, and only the Long Haul and Disc Trucker frames. They are to be used with a bicycle kickstand to keep your bicycle upright while not moving as if by magic. The plates consist of two halves that, when clamped on your frame in conjunction with a kickstand, protect your chainstays from hamfisting by sandwiching the frame between the plates. Have you ever eaten a hamfist sandwich? They taste terrible, so avoid them like the plague. - Compatible with 2019 and older Long Haul and Disc Trucker frames

If you like to ride useful bikes, racks make a lot of sense. Our 24-Pack Rack ups the useable cargo space from our 8-Pack Rack, providing more real estate for more stuff: more beer, more food, more random bits from the hardware store, more whatever. It’s manufactured from Chromoly tubing and uses the same stainless-steel hardware (handily housed in a reusable Surly Tool Bag) supplied with our other rack. It offers the same height adjustability too, so you can keep your cargo close to the ground and stable. It has plenty of braze-ons so you can customize how you secure your cargo…or just light your bike up like the space station. The 24-Pack Rack attaches to most forks that feature mid-blade and crown eyelets. It gives you a stable, rigid assembly upon which you might place your burden. No one likes a sweaty back and a sore ass, so take your stuff out of that messenger bag and put it on the front of your bike. Most of you don’t need the cargo capacity to land a helicopter on your rack. Sometimes, all you want to do is grab a sixer from the beer store on the way home or pick up a nice bouquet of flowers. For whatever the situation dictates, we offer the 8-Pack Rack. The 8-Pack Rack is a solid pedestal upon which you may rest a handlebar bag, grocery bag, minaudière, satchel…or whatever you use to carry your bowling ball around. The 8-Pack Rack attaches to most forks with mid-blade and crown eyelets. It uses stainless steel hardware (handily housed in a reusable Surly Tool Bag), and has the characteristic durability, versatility, and repairability all Surly products are known for. The 8-Pack Rack has lots of barrel braze-ons, so you can customize your cargo tie-downs…or just bolt on as many lights as you can. The 12mm slotted MDS dropout is the newest chip for Surly's MDS equipped trail frames. You like chips, don't you? The 12mm slotted dropout chip uses a standard derailleur mount for maximum compatibility and is made of cast and machined 6061-T6 aluminum, with a fender eyelet. What's the coolest part about the 12mm slotted MDS chip, you ask? The fact that it also has the capability to run a 12 x 142mm thru-axle in a single speed configuration. This is good news because single speeds are good news. When you get an MDS equipped frame you're getting the option to set it up however you want. You can run a 142 x 12mm thru-axle rear end with a direct mount Shimano hanger, standard 135mm QR or The Mighty Singlespeed. The way this will work is that Surly complete bikes that feature the MDS will ship with whatever chip is compatible with derailleur spec. For instance, the complete Instigator 2.0 ships with the 142 x 12mm thru-axle Shimano chip. If you want to change it to a singlespeed later (and why wouldn't you?), all you have to do is get the SS chip. Frames will ship with all three MDS chips so pick your poison. The 142 x 12mm and 135mm QR chips are made of cast and machined 6061-T6 aluminum and The Mighty Singlespeed chip is 304 stainless steel, because the two words 'aluminum' and 'singlespeed' should never be too close to each other. Bad things can happen…. As you can see, the MDS gives you not just different build options, it lets you use a more varied selection of parts for your frame up builds. The MDS is featured on most of our trail bikes. That's right: Krampus Ops, Karate Monkey Ops, Instigator 2.0 and Ice Cream Truck frames all sport these puppies.

There is no such thing as one bike that can do it all, but the Cross-Check comes mighty close. It's a cyclocross bike by design, but don’t be fooled into thinking that it has only one purpose. This jack-of-all-trades will do just as well getting you across the country as it does getting you across town. At home on the road, on trails, and on gravel, the Cross-Check'll fit pretty big tires, or smaller ones if you like. It can be built as a geared bike, a singlespeed, or a fixed-gear. The Cross-Check’s frame is engineered to supply a comfortable but lively ride. The tubing is CroMoly steel, high quality, custom-drawn, and built to our specifications. It's designed to work with components of popular sizes, meaning you can find both new and old parts to hang on this frame. It will accommodate a wide range of crank types and chainring sizes. It's got accommodations for racks and fenders (front and rear) and, because of its ample tire clearance, you can outfit it to suit where and how you will use it. There's a reason the Cross-Check has remained popular after all these years. The frame is comfy, tough as nails, and super versatile. Surly continues to hear from people for whom the Cross-Check has long been their go-to bike simply because it performs so astonishingly well on any surface.

Surly Rim Strips have one job and they do it well. They cover the cutouts in your rim and — if you're running a tube — they protect it from spoke heads and other sharp matter (okay, so maybe they have TWO jobs but they do them both really well.) Rim strips are crucial and should be used with all Surly rims. Ours come in an array of colors so you can really "express yourself." Surly Rim strips are available in two different materials: PVC and Nylon. PVC is great if you plan on only running tubes. However, if there's any part of you that wants to try this tubeless thing you've been hearing about, Nylon strips are just the ticket. They're thinner and offer minimal stretch so they stay put and lay nicely inside the rim to provide a secure seal. Plus, they're lighter which we all know means you'll go faster… maybe.
