The Pass Hunter is the speediest of our offerings and is designed for light-packing adventures over mountain passes, Sport Touring, and even the weekend club ride! While this may look like a traditional randonneur, don't let that elegant Cool Blue and nostalgic 80's Burgundy paint and metallic logos fool you. This frameset is packed with modern design and features. The wishbone rear triangle is a Velo Orange custom arrangement. By simplifying the connection points, it makes the rear end light and springy for optimal power transfer. The main triangle uses an oversized 35.0mm downtube and a standard 28.6 top tube. It makes the bike planted, comfortable, and with flex in all the right places. Lastly, the front end. The headtube is tapered to allow the use of aftermarket carbon forks that are available such as Rodeo Labs and Whisky, along with many others that fit into the "utili-fork" genre. The steel fork offered with the frameset has an axle-crown of 393mm with 51mm of rake. Here are the frame highlights you need to know: Frameset material: 4130 double butted chromoly steel Fork: 1 1/8" -> 1 1/2" tapered threadless, 4130 double-butted chromoly steel, EC44/40 lower cup, EC34/28.6 upper cup Wheel Size: 650b or 700c Tire Clearance: 650Bx42mm and 700x32mm w/ fenders, 650bx48 and 700x35mm without fenders. There is no such thing as one bike that can do it all, but the Cross-Check comes mighty close. It's a cyclocross bike by design, but don’t be fooled into thinking that it has only one purpose. This jack-of-all-trades will do just as well getting you across the country as it does getting you across town. At home on the road, on trails, and on gravel, the Cross-Check'll fit pretty big tires, or smaller ones if you like. It can be built as a geared bike, a singlespeed, or a fixed-gear. The Cross-Check’s frame is engineered to supply a comfortable but lively ride. The tubing is CroMoly steel, high quality, custom-drawn, and built to our specifications. It's designed to work with components of popular sizes, meaning you can find both new and old parts to hang on this frame. It will accommodate a wide range of crank types and chainring sizes. It's got accommodations for racks and fenders (front and rear) and, because of its ample tire clearance, you can outfit it to suit where and how you will use it. There's a reason the Cross-Check has remained popular after all these years. The frame is comfy, tough as nails, and super versatile. Surly continues to hear from people for whom the Cross-Check has long been their go-to bike simply because it performs so astonishingly well on any surface.

The Piolet is our bikepacking and rough-road riding frame. It's designed for off-road touring, including dirt and gravel roads, double track, and single track. We built it to be sturdy, simple, and very capable. As with our other frames it's double butted chromoly steel. The fork is triple butted for reduced weight and extra strength. The seatstays come together in a cool mono-stay wishbone and compliment the segmented fork. The frameset is covered in bosses for easily mounting any racks, water-bottles, gear cages, and even fenders. It's happily set up in bikepacking fashion or as a traditional rack and bag tourer! The Piolet handles similarly to a XC mountain bike, but slightly more in the touring direction. Feels natural with drop bars or flat bars. Non-suspension corrected fork handles predictably with or without a load! The Small are designed around 26 x 2.4" tires. M, L, and XL use 29 x 2.4" or 27.5 x 2.8" tires.
